Hervé (Forneri, de Nice ex Chats Sauvages) choisit une phonétique plus simple qu'il est impossible de massacrer. En réalité, Dick est le diminutif américain de Richard. Malheureusement pour Dick, ce mot prendra plus tard la signification de "b*te"...Néanmoins, il assume et en rigole plus ou moins. Cet EP est sorti en juin 1963 sur Pathé EG 696 (B1). "J'en suis fou" = "Love me do". Dick est accompagné par "Les Gladiators" (des Anglais) sous la direction de Paul Piot.

Un événement ? Sûrement pas pour tous les médias belges ! Ainsi, Grégory Willock n'en a pas touché un seul mot à son JT de 13:00 sur RTL TVI ni même Michel De Maegd dans celui du 19:00 !***Ce mercredi 9/09/2009 sort un bijou édité par EMI UK comprenant 14 CD's remasterisés pratiquement en HD par Guy Massey, Steve Rooke, Sam Okell assistés de Paul Hicks et Sean Magee (+ 1 DVD).***Véritable événement musical de cette fin d'année, cette réédition des albums des Beatles était attendue depuis des décennies par les millions de fans du plus grand groupe populaire de l'histoire.***Tous les CD's sont "enhanced". Le 14° contenant les anciens Past Masters 1 & 2 sortis en GB début mars 1988.***Bien accueillis en GB (#49 & #46 le 19 mars 1988 mais avec moins d'impact aux USA où ils se classent US #149 & US #121 les 9 et 16 avril suivant.***Maintenant, la question est de savoir s'il faut absolument se le procurer d'une manière ou d'une autre ou de le switcher. Ce magnique coffret dont chaque "enhanced" CD est en "gatefold" se vend depuis ce matin à 9:09 chez les disquaires. Je suis dubitatif comme Gilles Verlant: le prix tourne autour de 250 € mais je l'ai vu affiché à 199 € et il se vendait comme des petits pains ! Si vous ne possédez encore rien des Beatles (heureusement que Sir Paul McCartney avait pu racheter les 251 [sur les quelques 365 répertoriées] chansons achetées par Michael Jackson [v/article ATV Music Publishing] et que vous avez les moyens financiers et le matériel adéquat (un ampli numérique qui pourrait éventuellement diffuser les chansons en 5.1 si vous possédez un home cinema).***A noter que les premières rééditions des LP's mono sur CD ne le sont qu'en mono (AAD) et ceux en stéréo le sont en ADD alors que EMI voulait du "ADD" pour tous les albums et sur l'avis contraire des fans. Finalement EMI a cédé à la toute dernière minute en apposant une pastille AAD sur les lettres ADD déjà imprimées sur les livrets.*** March 7, 1987: as the group's back catalog is systematically released on CD, The Beatles' timeless popularity is underlined as they return to the charts all over the world.***Ce 9/9/9 n'est pas une coïncidence puisqu'il s'agit de l'ancien no de téléphone de Scotland Yard qui contrôla le HP britannique dans le courant des années 70 (v/autre article) suite à des magouilles dont au moins deux personnalités anglaises du showbiz que je ne peux décemment citer ici. Les Chats Sauvages est un groupe de rock français, apparu en 1961, qui a connu d'emblée un succès national avec des disques enregistrés pour la firme Pathé. Il fut le principal concurrent des Chaussettes Noires. Il était composé à l'origine de : Dick Rivers (Hervé Forneri) au chant, John Rob (Jean-Claude Roboly) à la guitare, James Fawler (Gérard Roboly) à la guitare, Jack Regard (Gérard Jaquemus) à la basse, et Willy Lewis (Wiliam Taïeb) à la batterie. Ce dernier sera successivement remplacé par Armand Molinetti, Dean Shelton et André Ceccarelli. Le départ de Dick Rivers à l'été 1962, remplacé par Mike Shannon (Michel Simonet), affectera la popularité du groupe, qui n'en poursuivra pas moins sa carrière, la ponctuant tout de même d'un important succès avec la chanson Derniers baisers (Bryan Hyland's Sealed With A Kiss). Les Chats Sauvages cesseront leur activité artistique en 1964, avant de réapparaître à deux reprises, de façon brève.***Cette formation enregistrera en 1963 et 1964 Elle T'Aime (She Loves You) et Seul d'après Boys des Shirelles (1961) via les Beatles.

***21-22/12/1979: Chicago joins The Eagles and Linda Ronstadt for 2 benefit concerts at San Diego's sports arena and Los Angeles' Aladdin theater, which raise almost $500,000 (500.000 USD) for the presidential campaign of California governor Jerry Brown.***The other live cover (!) is the one sung by Paul McCartney.

Released almost at the same time, Mary Hopkin's "Those Were The Days" single [from "Darogoi Dlimmoyo" formerly of the Russian folklore then adapted as "An jenem Tag" (and sung at the time (1968) by famous tenor man Iwan Rebroff [alias Hans-Rolf Rippert, Berlin, 31 July 1931-Berlin, 27 February 2008 (heart attack)] which means "Takiyeh Dni, Moi Drug" in Russian-speaking (EMI/Parlophone to become Apple 2) was issued (27th Aug.) 3 days before The Beatles' "Hey Jude" one (EMI/Parlophone to become Apple 1 - 30th Aug., 1968). Both singles topped the charts all over and beyond the world.***Hey Jude peaked at UK #52 on 10th Sep.1988.***Tidbit time 1: "Those were the days" (B-side of single White Room)? This song was also an eponymous CREAM song from the "In The Studio" portion of the DLP "Wheels Of Fire" released late August of the same year [US #1, UK #3 and UK #7 - 08/1968].***Tidbit time 2: while I was dining (in the evening 'round 7 pm [GMT]) with my parents and my sister Rose-Anne (who is living in Italy), I heard Hey Jude on the radio (RTB/Radio Diffusion Télévision Belge [to become RTBF a few years later]): waooouuuw! My goodness! I told my parents I had to buy the record the next day to a store in Aywaille not too far from Sougné-Remouchamps where I was living in]. Then, after school, my friends and buddies/chums and other fellas/fellows/camarades followed me to the said store to buy it themselves!***Tidbit time 3: my sister (who loved the song too) pinched the lyrics I got in a TV magazine (Moustique : hi Piero, KOR my dear!***I refounded them in her class notebook a few months later. Once there was a long time ago (winter of 1949 : accelerated rhythms mainly of polka, jive, hillbilly, Western swing, songs of his teen youth, tex-mex, classical music (Brahms, Rossini), Celtic music and dixieland as "COW-BOY-JIVE" or "Hillbilly-Jive")...One of the strongest influences in rock'n'roll music has been Bill Haley and His Comets. It was Bill Haley and the driving beat of his group that brought national prominence to the "Big Beat". It was Haley's music and his famed recordings that set the pattern for all rock'n'roll bands to follow.***Bill Haley started it all. His million-seller, "Shake, Rattle And Roll" hitted the world of Popular Music in the 50's, and he followed with a succession of smash hit Rock'n'Roll numbers including the evergreen (We're Gonna) "Rock Around The Clock". Then followed others like "Rip It Up", "See You Later, Alligator" and "Razzle-Dazzle" among others. For a decade Bill was "Mr. Rock'n'Roll" and "Mr. Go Go" [in Mexico, 1961-1966], and even now, more than 50 years after the first hit topped the summum of the int'l charts, his name and his personality are tops in the Rock scene. Bill had a good start : he came from a musical family in Michigan (his mother, Maude Green, teached piano lessons for 25 cents per hour; his father of Cherokee Indian ancestors roots played banjo and guitar) and, after flirting with Western music during his early teens, he instinctively felt that the lively, exciting Rock'n'Roll music was here to stay. And what about the current Rock revival in the early 70's and 80's which beared witness to the powerful influence generated by Bill Haley on the Pop world? To assess Bill's songs over and over the years is still a Herculean and exciting task, for he had so many; but to mention "R'n'R" is to conjure up instantly the name of Bill Haley. He was one of the immortals of the Pop scene; he has written into the history of music the most important chapter of all times...Rock'n'Roll...and it is with this that 25 years later he is still alive in our minds. Bill Haley will remain the UNDISPUTED KING and the FATHER of Rock'N'Roll: ain't that rockin' & rollin' so funny? En novembre 1968, les Beatles achevaient d'enregistrer ce double LP blanc "White Album". Jean Martin, manager du Sixteenth Century débarque à Londres à Abbey Road studios avec une bobine contenant e.a. Daydream - construite différemment que la version définitive. Le Wallace arrive à Londres (tous frais payés par EMI) le 6 janvier 1969 [époque à laquelle les Beatles travaillent sur leur prochain single Get Back] pour y enregister une chanson qui fera un carton par la suite courant mars 1969 (#1 en France et en Belgique francophone, #2 en Belgique néerlandophone, #14 aux Pays-Bas, #41 en Angleterre et plusieurs #1 en Amérique du Sud et Centrale...):"Daydream"...I fell asleep admid the flowers for a couple of hours on a beautiful day...Macca avait déclaré début 1969: "After us, it will be (them"[http://www.wallacecollection.net].Les 7/12/68 (UK) et 28/12/68 (USA), ce double LP est # 1.It is referred to as the White Album because of its plain white sleeve (a reversal from Sgt. George begins recording All Things Must Pass (UK #4 & US #1, 12/1970).

"Rien pour faire une chanson"/"Run for your life" sinon un texte écrit par Jacques Chaumelle et basé en majeure partie sur des chansons antérieures de Richard lui-même. Dominique Walter (fils de Michèle Arnaud et de Francis Claude) enregistre une bonne version de "Penny Lane" sortie en 1967 sur discAZ EP 1106/B1. Il est accompagné par Christian Chevallier. Il fait un clin d'oeil à sa maman avec une chanson de Gainsbourg écrite pour lui: "Les petits boudins".Juste à côté, une réédition NL de "Penny Lane" (is in my ears and in my eyes...) sortie en février 1987.

Une excellente version de "A Hard Day's Night" (trad. "la nuit d'une dure journée" lancé par Ringo en entrant un jour à Abbey Road Studios) intitulée "Je me bats pour gagner". Jean-François Grandin est accompagné par Clyde Borly et son orchestre. EP Barclay 70 702, 10/1964.

Encore une rareté: erick saint-laurent, arrangements et direction musicale Reg Guest avec sa version très réussie d'Eleanor Rigby "Eléonor Rigby". EP Barclay 71071M, 09/1966. Son véritable nom? Patrice Raison.Juste à côté, le 45 tours belge d'époque.

...sans Eddy Mitchell (alias Claude Moine), "Je te veux toute à moi"/"I Wanna Be Your Man". Un EP rarissime sorti sur Barclay 70 615 M en 02/1964. Les Lionceaux l'avaient aussi enregistrée sous le titre "Je te veux tout à moi" la même année pour Mercury, un label fameux d'origine américaine qui au début fut distribué en France à partir de 1955 par Eddie Barclay.Les Rolling Stones avaient créé la v.o. [une chanson spécialement écrite pour eux par John et Macca]. Tidbit time 1: la v.o. des Stones est reléguée sur une face B. Chez Decca, on se mord les doigts d'avoir jetés les Silver Beatles pour choisir Brian Poole and The Tremeloes...Tidbit time 2: Barclay, Philips, Mercury, Decca/Musidisc, DECCA USA, DECCA/London American recordings, Polydor... sont actuellement des labels appartenant à Vivendi Universal, France.
