  • Grimshaw school, Hornsey, with Ray and Dave Davies and Pete Quaife (who will achieve success as
  • THE KINKS), signs as an apprentice with professional socer team Brentford Football Club. After 3 weeks,
  • tired of little more than polishing other player's boots, he quits, heading for Europe, where he becomes a
  • busker. (He is deported from Spain for vagrancy.) He returns to UK, becomes a beatnik and attends CND's
  • Aldermaston marches.
  • 1963: He joins Birmingham, W.Midlands-R&B band The Five Dimensions as vocalist and harmonica player. The band plays throughout UK, backing
  • singer Jimmy Powell, who records a single for Pye on which Stewart plays blues harp.
  • Dec. 1976: Get Back, featured in Lou Reizner's film "All This And World War II" utilizing covers of Lennon / McCartney songs, reaches UK #11.
  • 2007: Stewart becomes CBE (Commander Of The Order Of The British Empire in the Queen's New Year's Honors list Monday, January 1.
